It's a long time

It's a long while since the last post. What has changed over the past month or so? Quite a lot actually. Had a week of break at the start of march and went Bangkok for four days of rest and relax. After that back to Singapore where I had a few more days of rest before having to drag myself back to work. And really, it was tough to go back to work after such a long break. Finally handed over all of my work to colleague while I took over all of his. Had thought that this might be a good change of job scope after having done a particular function for about half a year but boy was I wrong. Turned out that the new job scope requires a lot of tedious repetitive routine work that just require a robotic mind to execute and complete. Volumes are high so the only break is lunch time where I make to it point to go downstairs for lunch rather than buy back food to eat at the desk. Need to think of ways to automate the processes so that things can be done much easier and faster otherwise it will be tough year to bear if volumes keep increasing. The mandate from the top is to improve productivity by 15% this year. I agree that things could be done easier but really need to brainstorm to come out with ideas to reduce tedious and non valued steps in the process which would definitely require cooperation from the IT end as well. Quite a big surprise that a colleague had resigned as she seemed to be doing quite well. But I guess, its better to leave when you find that getting yourself to work everyday becomes a quite drag and already I'm starting to find myself in this dilemma. I should refocus and try to think of ways on how I can simplify the processes to make life easier for myself rather the grumble so much about it. "Focus on the things you want rather than what you don't want". Over at EB, things are looking up but still it'a tough when you are cash flow negative every month so debts just get snowballed every month. The blog has been getting more hits so thats a positive sign. Promotions are in full swing and response has so far been good. Tough times.....
