I would rather fail BIG than be mediocre!

"Far better to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat." - Theodore Roosevelt 1899

Have you ever thought of attempting something new but took no action in the end? I guess that this is a problem for most people, trying to step out of their comfort zone is too much of a difficult and agonizing task!

People are creatures of habit. Given the choice, most people would rather do things the way that they are familiar with rather than in some other way that is untested or new to them. However, we must keep in mind that we cannot expect to get a different result by taking the same actions. Take for example if you want to eat mangoes, it would all but impossible to grow them out from apple seeds! If there is a new goal or objective that you want to achieve, you must never give up trying different means to achieve the result that you are aiming for.

Only by stretching ourselves and expanding our horizons, do we grow our knowledge and experience to become better and better!

The importance of asking the right questions

"The quality of our lives depends on the quality of questions we ask ourselves".

I really believe the above to be true. People are creates of habit. People who habitually asks themselves the wrong questions live a much lower quality of live than people who asks themselves the right questions. It is not hard to understand why this is so.

Take for example a person who gets retrenched and loses his job. An unenlightened person will ask himself self-defeating questions such as "Why does this always happen to me?", Why am I so unlucky?". However, someone who is enlightened will ask himself questions such as "What can I learn from this experience?", "What new skills and knowledge can I acquire to get myself rehired?" The mind is the most powerful supercomputer in the world but it is unable to differentiate between good and bad, positive and negative. Whatever you ask of it, it will go through its enormous storehouse of knowledge, memories and experiences to give you its best answer.

Ask a bad question, you will get a lousy response. Ask an excellent question, you can expect a good answer. Ask and you shall receive. Just some food for thought. I resolve to make it a habit to use more positive words and ask myself positive questions.
